Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing and managing the organization’s payroll, as well as assisting the finance department with various tasks. This position requires a thorough understanding of payroll procedures and regulations with a background in HR, excellent analytical skills, and strong attention to detail.

Basic Functions: The duties listed below are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification, but not limited to:

  • Process and manage bi-weekly payroll for all employees, in a timely manner
  • Review and verify all payroll information entered in the system for accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, and company policies
  • Collaborate with Human Resources department to manage employee data related to payroll, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies or concerns promptly
  • Perform regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations
  • Assist in the implementation of new payroll systems or upgrades
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities and reporting
  • Stay up to date on payroll regulations and industry trends
  • Complete other payroll related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of HR compliance and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and experience with payroll software systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Intermediate accounting skills and knowledge
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish required

 

Additional Information:

  • Job Type: Part- Time
    • FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt Position
  • Salary Range: $30.00 – $32.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Benefits: 40 hours of paid sick leave as required by California law
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Experience:  Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing
  • License/Certification: N/A
  • Work Location: Irvine Office
